With the help of league founder Atty. Jang Moreno, VIX Legis was formed right away as one of the pioneer clubs in the first season of the Advocatus League.

Coined from the latin phrase which meant ‘the power of law’, VIX Legis powered its way to a 5-1 slate so far in their first season, despite the unusual circumstances that brought them together in the first place.

“Nabuo ‘yung team namin because of Atty. Jang Moreno. He contacted me and asked if I wanted to field a team in this new league among lawyers. ‘Yung iba dito lang namin nakilala and right now we’re still trying to mesh,” said team representative Atty. Daryl Santos.

The squad is led by the likes of Jang Moreno and Rick Araneta, who are both in the Top 5 in the MVP race compiling 225.0 and 201.5 SPs respectively. Others are no slouch either, but it’s evident that the team’s fortunes are heavily reliant on the duo’s performance.

In fact, Atty. Daryl Santos mentioned that the team still has ways to go despite their strong win-loss record, and they’ll continue to work hard to make sure that they’ll peak at the right time come postseason.

“Si Jang Moreno and si Rick Araneta ‘yung palaging nagp-player of the game. Jang is a slasher who has a midrange game, while Rick is an imposing big man inside. Sila go-to guys namin,” bared Santos.

“We didn’t know what to expect at first, but we came up with a system na nagwork out naman for us. It showed naman sa standings and so far so good,” he added.

The Advocatus League provided a viable platform for these baller-lawyers to strut off their wares and VIX Legis is no exception.

Moreover, team representative Atty. Daryl Santos sees his participation in the league already as a success in itself. But in his own words, it will be better if they’ll cap it off with a championship.

“We’re all lawyers, and during the day we work our butts off in the office or in the courtroom. This league gives us a chance to take our minds off work and to broaden our network since ‘yung iba dito lang namin nakilala. It’s fun and this gives us exercise and work-life balance,” said Santos.

“Siyempre we want to get the championship, that’s our goal. Even if we don’t get there, for as long as we mesh well as a team considering we started off as strangers, pwede na rin,” he ended.
