Ajun Valenzuela caught fire while Jericho Ibanez imposed his strength inside the paint as Legends 95-98 waltzed to a 75-69 debut victory against the lowly Workwear in the KOTC | STR8 Philippines Inter Pick-up Invitational 2019.

Valenzuela turned back the clock in the fourth quarter and drilled 10 points in his 25-point game-high performance. Valenzuela also collected four rebounds and five assists.

On the other hand, Ibanez wreaked havoc inside the two-point area and notched an incredible double-double game of 21 points and 13 rebounds, plus four steals. Richard Cortez also showed up and helped with 16 markers.

Workwear showed tremendous energy in the first half with Vincent Agdamag scoring 15 markers. They even got their highest lead at 13 points, 44-31.

But despite this double digit margin, Legends refused to back down and fought back ferociously in the third quarter. They started their adjustments on defense and saw positive results in transition, pulling off two key offensive runs to get a two-point advantage heading to the fourth quarter, 57-55.

As their team trailed in the early minutes of the final period because of Workwear's six straight points, Valenzuela and Ibanez shouldered Legends' offense by combining for 14 points as a result of the team's pesky defense. Legends denied Workwear from making a field goal for more than five minutes while enjoying a nine-point deficit with only 1:23 left. Despite Workwear's attempt to cut the deficit, Legends made sure that the victory will be theirs when the buzzer sounded.

Agdamag turned cold in the second half as he only added five points to finish with 20 markers for Workwear. Michael Miyauchi contributed 15 points, while Kevin Vasquez, VG Agdamag, and Joffet Etang combined a total of 27 points. Workwear's chances to advance to the playoffs got slimmer as they fell to 0-4 record.
