TOIC Pump Busters became the first champion of the IPPCA Inter-Basketball Tournament after finishing off SEAOIL Sharks in the Game Two of the Best-of-three finals series, 63-50.

It was already late in the evening, but the energy of the teams and also their supporters remained high as The Upper Deck Sports Lifestyle Center got filled with loud noise.

But in the end, it was TOIC who made the final celebration as the victory against the gritty SEAOIL meant that they are the team to bring home the coveted IPPCA trophy.

Scores were tight from start to finish as none of the two competitors got a chance to hold a double digit lead. The latter half of the final quarter became the determining period on who between TOIC and SEAOIL got what it takes just to win the match, and apparently, that team was TOIC.

Trying to extend the series to a Do-or-Die Game 3, SEAOIL has shown a strong force in the early minutes of the fourth quarter as they took a five-point advantage in the 7:28 mark, 41-36.

Unfortunately, they failed to keep the tenacity of their offense as TOIC answered back immediately, starting with a three-pointer by the season and finals MVP Kim Gregorio, to reverse the situation.

As Gregorio knocked down another triple in the 4:17 minute mark, it helped the Pump Busters to have a two-possession advantage. SEAOIL was able to cut the deficit to just a point until Jeffrey Gomez suddenly fired up from beyond the arc and drilled three consecutive triples that pulled TOIC away with less than a minute to play. Making sure of clinching the title, Gregorio put the icing on the cake by delivering the last five points for the newly-crowned champions.

"We had a perfect game and everyone in the team really stepped up just to finally win the championship. We're very happy at this moment," said Gregorio in Filipino.

The Finals MVP led TOIC in this series, pouring a remarkable performance of 26 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Gomez's late explosion resulted to a 15-point output, while Mark Egie Asuncion and Vonreo Cachola combined for 13 markers. Cachola also grabbed 10 boards.

On the other hand, Luke Enriquez anchored SEAOIL's offense with 12 points. Unfortunately, no one else from the bench scored double figures.

Meanwhile, IPPCA Commissioner Saymour Go assured everyone of a more exciting Season 2 of the IPPCA Inter-Basketball Tournament.

"I am happy to see both teams giving their best. It was a really competitive game and I congratulate them for reaching this far. For next season, there will be new teams joining and definitely, there will be more sponsors,"

"We would like to invite everyone to the second season of IPPCA Inter-Basketball Tournament. Expect it to be more exciting and fun," he concluded.

Finals MVP - Kim Gregorio

In all possible way he can, Kim Gregorio used all the weapons in his arsenal to lead TOIC anew and bring the first IPPCA Inter-Basketball Tournament championship to the Pump Busters.

Unlike his performance in Game 1, Gregorio made sure his offense will be felt in the title-clinching Game 2 of the finals series against SEAOIL.

The Season MVP, who also won the Finals MVP award, was unstoppable in his attacks as he gathered a game-high of 26 points, including three triples, on top of his seveb rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
