TEAM ROCHA chalked up one of its best performances of the season, pulling off a wire-to-wire 68-54 victory against Team Giron, forcing a do-or-die match for the 2018 La Salle Green Hills (LSGH) Batch 2015 Liga title.

In Game 2 on Wednesday night, Dec. 5, at the Fr. Martinez Activity Center of LSGH, Team Rocha found its stride from the get-go and never removed its foot on the gas pedal. Contrary to its poor effort in the final 10 minutes of Game 1, Team Rocha shackled Team Giron to just eight points to shut the door on a potential comeback bid.

No going home tonight: The captain ensured his team lives to fight another day as Miguel Rocha led the way in points, leadersihp, and intensity.

Hot shooting from skipper Miguel Rocha, who scored 10 of his 21 points in the first 10 minutes, set the tone early for the number-one seeded squad.

Miguel Vasquez continued his hot streak for Team Rocha, scoring 18 points, including 14 during the second quarter, while Benedicto Nieto more than made up for his scoreless outing in Game 1 with his all-around hustle, as well as 12 points during the contest. Jeron Manzanero fired eight points, including three triples, to round out the team's top scorers.

No let ups: Team Rocha made sure that there would be no comebacks this time as they outscored Team Giron 13-8 in the fourth.

Game 3 of the best-of-three title showdown is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 10, also at LSGH.

Patrick Giron, who normed 22.2 points during the tournament, fought tooth and nail to score 17 points in the contest, his second-lowest scoring output since putting up seven points against Team Rocha in their first elimination round encounter on Oct. 15.

During the match, Giron was stifled by the barrage of defenders tasked by Team Rocha, forcing the league's leading scorer to get creative in putting up shots against the air-tight defense.

Team Giron, which sought to nab the title after its second-place finish in the tournament's inaugural staging, managed to chip away at the lead to as low as four points at multiple junctions of the contest, but the defense-to-offense machine of Team Rocha proved to be too much to handle.

Hostile welcome: Miguel Rocha and co. spoiled Ralph Rabanal's debut as they held the co-captain to 0 points.

The LSGH Batch 05 Liga is an annual draft-style, 5-team tournament spearheaded by Butz Tenchavez. Other team captains bannering the league are Geo Sia, Kenzo Villanueva and Richard Gavino.
