TEAM GIRON overcame a 12 point deficit at the end of the third quarter to pull off a 75-67 win over Team Rocha in Game 1 of the 2018 La Salle Green Hills (LSGH) Batch 2015 Liga on Monday night, Dec. 3, at the Fr. Martinez Activity Center of LSGH.

Anchored by the sweet-shooting Erbin Vila, who knocked down nine points in the final frame, the second-seeded squad captained by NBA Philippines' Patrick Giron moved within a win of securing the title in the tournament's second edition.

Vila finished with 20 points in the match, followed by Giron, who added 19 markers. Don Cribe also contributed 14 points to round out the team's leaders. Gab Valenciano contributed energy from the Team Giron bench in his debut, scoring eight points in the match.

Team Giron coughed up 60 points through the first three quarters, but managed to pull the rug from under Team Rocha in the final frame and stifled their once hot shooting. Team Rocha was limited to just seven points in the final 10 minutes of play.

Miguel Vazquez led the way for the top-seeded Team Rocha with 24 points, with Jeron Manzanero and Miguel Rocha putting up 11 and 10 points, respectively. Outside gunner Ian Avila was limited to three points, with Benedicto Nieto scoreless throughout the match.

Team Rocha was seemingly in the driver's seat in the first three quarters, knocking down nine three pointers in the first three quarters to take a commanding 60-48 lead heading into the last quarter.

Miguel Vazquez, whenever present, never fails to deliver: A calm demeanor who racks up heavy downpour of points.

However, Team Giron chipped away at the deficit from undergoal stabs from Cribe, who fired eight points during the final 10 minutes of the contest, compounded by timely treys from Vila.

Game 2 of the best-of-three series is slated for Wednesday, Dec. 5, also at LSGH, with Team Rocha aiming to extend the series to a Game 3 scheduled for Monday, Dec. 10.

The LSGH Batch 05 liga is a draft-style, 5-team tournament spearheaded by Butz Tenchavez. Other team captains bannering the league are Geo Sia, Kenzo Villanueva and Richard Gavino.
