Concentrix pulled the rug out from under Maynilad in the 2020 Kings of the Court Corporate Commercial Invitationals, scoring a 74-71 come-from-behind win in their Sunday evening clash inside The Upper Deck Lifestyle Center in Ortigas.

Down by 14 in the third and 11 in the fourth period, Concentrix dug deep to notch their first victory of the tournament after dropping their initial assignment.

Behind the exploits of Arold Basilio and former UST Growling Tiger Rommel David, Maynilad controlled the third period and the early parts of the final quarter. David’s two free throws in the final 6:37 gave Maynilad a 56-45 advantage.

Just when things looked bleak for Concentrix, the white shirts cranked up their defense to stymie Maynilad, turning the tide to their favor.

Buoyed by their full court press, Concentrix forced Maynila to a myriad of turnovers, which Concentrix converted to easy transition points. As the well dried up for Maynilad, Concentrix finally found their scoring groove in the payoff period, dishing out an 11-2 run to grab the lead in the final 2:11.

Steve Nadal drained the go-ahead three-pointer which pushed Concentrix ahead 67-66. Chris Catamora, a former National U stalwart, drained a tough elbow jumper in the game’s final minute, plus three of four three throws to secure the win for Concentrix.

Catamora finished with a game-high 23 points on an efficient 9-of-14 field goal clip. Nadal added 20 markers, knocking down three of his six three-point attempts.

David paced Maynilad with 19 points, while Basilio tallied 18. The Cholo Villanueva-mentored ballclub remains winless after two starts.
