Southern Cross displayed finesse as they blew past Finastra, 77-61, to record third straight victory in the Corporate Invitational Division, Sunday at The Upper Deck in Ortigas, Pasig.

From the domination inside the paint to the impeccable shooting from the three-point territory, there was no chance for Finastra to stop the excellent team performance of Southern Cross as the latter never gave the former a chance to get on top.

Jheyar Marcelo made two double-double performances in a row as he finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds, along with five assists and three steals.

Jason Santos and Wynald Sultan also ended with the same peat as the former gathered 16 points and 14 rebounds, and the latter taking away 17 markers and 12 boards. Ruperto Ramos Jr. helped in the offense with 17 points.

Since trailing by 14 in the second quarter, Finastra only came back as close as six, 36-30, in the third frame, but only to get spoiled by Southern Cross after finishing the third ahead by 11, 59-48.

In the fourth, Southern Cross turned their focus onto defense as their backcourt pressure forced Finastra to commit errors that led to series of fastbreak baskets. Marcelo's back-to-back triples gave them their highest lead, 74-55, before officially taking a 16-point victory.

Carl Lasala and Bernie Leonida shouldered Finastra's offense anew as they tallied 15 and 13 points respectively. Julian Cruz posted 12 markers. Finastra remained winless after two outings.
