SMP Royal decks out DJ Sport’s late resurgence to notch second win

The hustle never ceases on the hardwood as personified in the second match-up between two formidable squads – where quick ball rotation is the name of their game as SMP Royal emerges victorious against DJ Sports’ battering and record their second straight victory.

The scales were balanced at the first half. DJ Sports’ ball movement goes head-to-head in the wild shooting of SMP Royal. From pull-up jumpers at key and triples above, SMP Royal hits dead center to advance by three-points to close the first half.

Former MVP Rayanne Santos showed no sign of slowing down as he gathered the team-high of 19 points with four triples drained. Dunray Geraldo and Jerick Datu with 12, and 10 points respectively. Enter the second half, and SMP started to breathe fire as they revamped their defense, where their opposition falls into the trap. Intercepting DJ Sports’ passes to translate into fast break opportunity. SMP’s menacing awakening allowed them to lead as much as 12-points and averaged around three- possessions ahead for the succeeding quarters.

Not to be undone, DJ Sports’ resisted and stayed at striking distance of the lead. Kevin Ng and Emerson Que charged tactically boasting 15, and 12 points with the latter gathering 12 boards for a double-double performance.

The duo’s remarkable effort was capped by their team mate Martinez Jesus with the late rally in the final minute to inch as close as four points in the final 14.6 seconds.

Employing their already effective defense, SMP stomped out any resurgence to advance their victory towards the finish line, 68-63.
