Surf Theori is already making waves on its first season and they’ll look to win their first title in the OLSABL. Batch 1993 has other plans, however, as they are determined to win it all by putting the new team in its place.

From the get-go, Surf Theori blazed through its competition ending the regular season with a 4-1 slate.

They were able to eliminate LSGH-ANHSAA in their semis matchup, 68-57, aided by Paolo Orbeta’s 37-point outburst.

Meanwhile, 1993 had to go through the eye of a needle by squeaking past the second-seeded 1994 squad in the Final Four, 71-69, through the combination of Wowie Evangelista and Carlo Franco. Both scored 22 and 20 mark ers respectively.

By the numbers:

Paolo Orbeta’s MVP campaign: The former CSB standout has singlehandedly catapulted Surf Theori all the way to the big dance. He has averaged 36.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per contest so far, making him a favorite for the MVP citation. Can anyone stop his rampage?

1993’s strength in numbers: While Surf Theori has a one-man wrecking crew, 1993 has a balanced lineup that can take on all comers. This season, the team boasts four MVP candidates in Wowee Evangelista, Mon Jose, Chris Magnayeah, and Nino Ocampo, who compiled 202.5, 149.0, 140.0, and 138.5 SPs respectively.

Players to look out for:

Who will step up besides Orbeta? Whileall eyes are on Paolo Orbeta, former PBA player Al Magpayo shouldn’t be overlooked as well. The defensive workhorse has posted averages of 17.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game, good for 128.0 SPs. His hustle and rebounding would be a good complement to Orbeta’s offensive repertoire.

Mon Jose’s underrated performance: It’s neck-and-neck between Paolo Orbeta and Wowee Evangelista in the OLSABL MVP race, but Mon Jose is right up there as well, placing sixth with 149.0 SPs. Jose has averaged 17.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per contest.
