MSD, Greyjoys score in Monolith cage wars opener

Monolith Construction and Development Corporation is a Filipino corporation established in 1990 taking several projects ranging from warehouse to residential and commercial buildings in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.

Since its establishment, Monolith has been attributed to the development of 162 low-rise to high-rise commercial and industrial buildings and condominiums and 51 shopping malls, hotels, and institutional buildings.


Two squads earned opening day victories as the Monolith Basketball tournament commenced last Saturday, June 1 at the Mpire Center in Quezon City.

MSD fired 53 first half points en route to an 82-68 win over the JSLA in the opening game.

Kim Imperial and Darwin Perlawan led the balanced scoring for MSD, each finishing with 14 points. Marc Wilbert Curading, Jeff Quiray, and Mark Clemente all tallied double-digit scoring as well.

MSD outscored JSLA, 53-28 in the first two quarters, setting the tone for the rest of the match.


MSD made 8 triples too, five more than JSLA's output from three-point area.

Almer Viado fired 32 points, altough it went to waste as none of his teammates co-carried the load.

In the other meeting, Greyjoys repulsed Tullys, 67-59.



Greyjoys started out flat but recovered their bearings, closing out strong with a 22-16 final period for the win.

Richard Quinto dropped 17 points although needed 19 shots for the winning side. Ronie Posio provided ample help with 16 markers.

Kevin Gapuz was the high-point man for Tullys, wounding up with 16 points.
