Magic7 completed their quest on getting the crown after two seasons by owning Trojans in the Season 11 of Kings of the Court / STR8 Rooks Competitive, 108-95, held last Sunday at the Upper Deck Lifestyle Center in Ortigas.

The champs started out strong on winning all the way as they started out a 19-10 advantage, and ended the opening frame up by a precarious point. Then, they tightened up their defense against Trojans Peter Berdadero in the second period, while running off the break.

In the pivotal canto, Finals MVP Aldrin Dollentas had his own eight to nothing blast to push their advantage into ten, 40-30, midway; then another five to zero run courtesy of Season MVP Jocel Peñaflorida to punctuate their dominant quarter with a 16-point margin, 57-41.

Dollentas finished with his season best 26 points, shooting six triples while shooting the lights out with 66% from deep, and 80% inside the arc.

Peñaflorida produced another double-double with 19 and 14, while torching for 88% from the field - missing only a field goal. King Diamante contributed for 16 points and nine assists.

On the other hand, Trojans didn’t have any answer in Magic7’s dominance as they dug 19-hole entering the final frame, 84-65.

It was the same story in their first meeting last November 17, in which the Magic7 also dismantled their opponent, 97-81. This time they kept an eye on the price as they never let Trojans have a decent momentum in this game.

A wasted effort for Rafael Ortiz as he put up his season high 27 points and eight assists to lead his team’s offense, Onyok Esteban added 21, while an injured Berdadero had a subpar 12 points and eight boards.
