ING Lions almost blew a huge lead at the fourth quarter, but managed to escape with the victory after halting the furious comeback by Factset, 78-75, in the Kings of the Court Corporate Invitational last Sunday at The Upper Deck.

Manu Magat was the man of the moment for ING as he led the Lions during the crunchtime behind his clutch buckets to seal their first win in the season. Magat churned out an impressive numbers with his 13 points, seven rebounds and three dimes, but mostly, his defensive prowess was the one of the keys on his big game. The pass-first guard of ING showed a sticky defense to snatch a game-high six steals in total.

ING started the ball game by taking over the lead behind their unselfish basketball plays that resulted to wide open shot. Arman Bisnan and Jeremy Mamhot carry the load in scoring department for the Lions as they both scored most of the points of their squad, finishing the first quarter with a double-digit advantage, 22-11.

The Lions went on a tear in the second and third quarters by playing with the momentum on their side to extend their cushion to biggest 17 points, 67-50, despite of the raging offense displayed by Russell Medrano of Factset. Medrano almost scored most of the points production of the struggling Factset but still unable to pull some defensive stops against ING.

Meanwhile, things went different at the final period. Factset finally got their rhythm and started to click its offense at the fourth quarter, outscored ING and managed to tie the game at 73-apiece, 1:14 left on the game clock. Rein Gaitan scored seven straight points for Factset, including his left wing trey to make the score even.

However, Magat answered with clutch bucket to give the Lions a 76-73 lead but Gaitan proved that he was not done after hitting his own basket, 76-75. As the game went down the wire with the score of 78-75, Medrano almost forced an extra session but unfortunately, he missed the late three-pointer.

Bisnan led the scoring production for ING after tallying with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while Mamhot contributed with his 15 markers and Kevin Gahol ended with 13 points in total for ING.

On the other side, Medrano’s 36-point outing and 12 rebounds unable to lift Factset on yet another heart-breaking lost. Gaitan finished the game with 16 points, six boards and three assists in total.
