Factset ends drought with win over Finastra

After a couple of near hits and misses, Factset finally grabbed their first win of the season at Finastra's expense, 84-72, on Sunday at The Upper Deck Lifestyle Center in Ortigas, Pasig City.

Consistent in lighting up the scoreboard was Russell Medrano, who led Factset with a game-high 35 points on 14 made field goals, Rein Gaitan followed with 18 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Despite getting big numbers from their main gunners, Factse had to overcome a second half surge from Finastra, who also wanted the win as bad as the eventual victor.

Trailing 29-40 at the halftime break, Finastra found their groove on both ends as they held the white shirts to just three points, four minutes into the third quarter. In that span, leading scorers Bernie Leonida and Carl Lasala connived to spearhead a 14-point barrage to force a 43-all count. through defensive stops, Factseet was able to weather the storm and regain a double digit advantage to end the quarter, 64-54.

Come payoff period, Finastra was still knocking at Factset's door as they slowly trimmed the gap back to a single digit to open the final chapter. Now in crunch time, the McKinley Hill-based team went to their money man in Medrano, while allso getting solid contributions from their cast. Factset built a 13-point- 73-60 lead midway through the payoff period- slowly pulling away from Finastra.

The white shirts would prove too much in the endgame as they opened a 20-point advantage in the final minutes, thanks to a 16-4 finishing kick which gave them an 82-62 gap which would prove as a tough climb for Finastra in the last stretch.

Leonida and Lasala led Finastra with 18 and 17 markers respectively. Daniel Aloroy made solid contributions with nine rebounds along with seven markers while Jivesh Lansang had eight points and eight boards.

For the victor, Cyn Domingo was all over the place for Factset after finishing with eight points, 11 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks. Lawrence Llorente rounds out the contributors from the winning side with eight rebounds and two points.
