Experience got the better of youth in Exile 40Up's victory over the feisty DJ Sports team, 72-68, on Sunday afternoon at The Upper Deck Lifestyle Center.

Team owner Joey Valencia drilled three triples and finished with 13 markers, along with five rebounds, five assists, and two steals to lead his team in dominating majority of the ballgame. But it wasn't until the final seconds of the fourth quarter that Exile had the game in the bag, as they were made to sweat by the young guns from the opposing end.

Emarson Que and Kyle Chua led four players from DJ Sports who scored in double figures, to a furious rally to start the payoff period, where they trailed 46-62 as the final ten minutes began. The yellow shirts unloaded 22 points in the fourth period to narrow the gap down to its lowest since the first quarter of play.

But just as the going got tougher for the veterans from Exile, endgame poise became their weapon in supressing the attempted comeback, as they banked on defensive stops and hold off the run to escape with a close victory. Matthan Yu and Nickson Tan scored 10 and 12 markers respectively for DJ Sports, who now has a game left to boost their bid in upcoming knockout playoffs.

For the victor, Jayson Bondoc scored a team-high 18 points on 57% shooting from the field; Noah Baltazar added 10 points and four boards, while JayR Patricio finished with nine points and seven rebounds for the now 3-1 Exile 40Up squad, who is up for their last assignment in a week's time.
