The ePLDT survived Finastra's late explosion as they remained unbeaten after two outings in the Corporate Invitational Division, Sunday at The Upper Deck in Ortigas, Pasig.

The victory almost slipped away from the hands of ePLDT as their largest lead of 22 points only turned out to a 81-78 win against Finastra.

Trailing by eight with less than five minutes on the clock, Bernie Leonida sparked the Finastra's comeback after hitting three triples in their 14-2 run that cut the deficit to 76-73.

Putting their key gunners back in the crucial period, ePLDT managed to keep the lead after Kim Gonzales' baseline attack and split charities, and Riquel Enriquez' jumper.

Leonida almost sent the game to overtime with his game-tying trey right before the buzzer, but the ball bounced out of the cylinder.

Gonzales was a rebound-shy for a double-double performance, gathering a team-high of 15 points and nine rebounds. Ads Duran delivered 14 markers, while Enriquez got 10 for ePLDT.

Despite falling short to get the comeback win, Leonida still showed his never say die attitude after dropping seven triples in his 25-point performance. Mark Lasala had the game-high of 27 points.
