TV Production smashes IT in ABS-CBN Kapamilya Volleyball Tournament opener

It has been more than a year but the hard-hitting TV Production remained as dominant as they were before after crashing IT, 25-15, 28-30, 25-20, to begin their title-defense on a positive note in the opening day of ABS-CBN Kapamilya Volleyball Tournament.

Showing mastery of the game, Julius Pamintuan overwhelmed his opponents with his thunderous spikes as he tallied a total of 20 kills and added five service aces. Reniel Cadiz boosted TV Production’s game by scoring 12 kills and seven service aces, while Nicktomdonie Pino had six kills.

IT seemed to feel the first game jitters as they commited a lot of errors in the early part of the match and allowed the defending champions to have a commanding 10-6 start. IT got their own rally and came back to within one point but TV Production loaded up their spikes and services, led by Pamintuan, to take first set by storm, 25-15.

TV Production’s heavy scorer surprised IT with his thunderous service aces to give TV Production a 5-0 edge. However, TV Production’s too much use of power in their smashes stroke back at them as the team doned in yellow eventually tied the scores at 9-all. Doing almost everything for the IT, Mark Gio Senique scored in diffent ways to put his team on top by three, 16-13, but Paminutan and Cadiz refused to let TV Production lose the set and threatened with a matchpoint, 24-22. IT showed a lot of heart and forced four deuced until they got the 30-28 set win to stretch the game to a deciding round.

With Senique continuing his efficient scoring and TV Production being plagued by errors, IT opened the third set with a strong 7-2 start. But, TV Production easily erased that advantage after Cadiz, Pamintuan and Pino dominated the final set by hitting spikes. IT got back the lead, 15-14, but TV Production prevented making errors and rallied a huge eight unanswered points, 22-15. IT tried to come back but they fell short as their own error allowed the defending champions celebrate their debut win.

Senique powered the tough IT team with his total of 17 kills and 10 service aces.

TV Production reigns over CCM by 46 points

TV Production put on a show after demolishing CCM by 46 points, 88-42, to start their title-defense in the opening day of the ABS-CBN Kapamilya Basketball Tournament held last July 7, 2017 at PBB Court.

Jose Sarasola finished with a game-high of 14 points, alongside two points and one block. Marvin Distura backed with 13 markers, while Jayklio Bermudez and Von Santelices helped with 12 and 10 points respectively. Gerlad Acao built a wall inside the paint with his monstrous defense, gathering 12 rebounds, two steals and two blocks. He also played well in the offensive end with his two markers and three assists.

The men donned in black jerseys obviously missed the competition as they drizzled with excitement right after the opening tip and immediately surged for a huge margin, 19-5, led by Santelices and Bermudez. Despite the wide gap, TV Production kept their relentless attacking capped by Distura’s seven straight points to end the first quarter, 26-11.

TV Production had no plan to slow down the pace of the game in the second period as they continued their rampage to get a 25-point deficit in the 6:42 minute mark, 38-13. Arnold Sulit, Jerome Clavio and Jopet Quiro showed some life for CCM after making an 8-0 run, but TV Production was able to bring the lead back to 21 points at the end of the first half, 47-26.

The orange-donned CCM put TV Production to an early penalty situation in the third quarter but they failed to take advantage of it as they missed many shots from the free throw line. TV Production converted a lot of fast break baskets on the other end without sacrificing their balanced offense and increased their lead to 32 points before the final canto, 70-38.

As CCM lost their hope of winning the game, TV Production turned the fourth period into a scoring party until getting a 46-point margin when the final buzzer sounded. Lloyd Oliver Corpuz added more entertainment as he acted as the game announcer in the final quarter.

Quiro and Sulit were the only players to enter to double figures for CCM as they scored 11 points apiece.

Player of the Game – Gerald Acao

The TV Production giant stood strong in the middle and slayed everyone who attempted to attack his wall-like defense, proving that his presence was a huge factor in his team’s system.
