As accurate as the way they lay their structural plans, as solid as the buildings they build, the architects will get the opportunity to show off their skills on the hardcourt as the United Architects Basketball League (UABL) 2019 successfully opened at the Quezon City Sports Club.

For the UABL premiere season, five teams - UAP Quezon City Chapter, UAP Capitol, UAP South Triangle, UAP Silangan, and UAP Tandang Sora - will try to bag the first-ever title.

"I feel really excited that UABL officially started today. This league is created because these eager architects just want to have some fun and play basketball. So, the objective of this league is camaraderie," said Ms. Maria Aileen Florentino-Marudo, one of the heads of the UABL.

Sponsored by Davies, Starken, and Kings of the Court / STR8 PH, this league aims to promote work-life balance among architect members and to ensure them of a healthy lifestyle despite their busy schedules.

"Especially that it is being handled by KOTC /STR8, we expect that everything will be organized and will be well. Thale players are all focused on having fun, meeting new friends and other new teams," she added.

All five teams are going to face each other in a single round-robin format for the elimination phase and only the top four teams will be moving on to the semifinals. The lowest-ranked team will get eliminated. And in case of a tied record, the quotient system will be used to determine the final four. Both the semifinals amd the finals will be played via knockout match.

"As an architect, time management is very important. In terms of work, family, physical activities, and time with friends, kailangan maisiksik namin sa schedule. Given that we work five or six times a week, it is important for us to have at least a day to exercise and mingle with others, being physically active together to stay healthy. " said Earl Bello, player of UAP Quezon City Chapter.

"Davies has been very supportive company to us architects, especially in sports events. If this inaugural season has become successful, we hope that the sponsorship with them and Starken continue in the following years," Bello stated about UABL's partnerships with Davies and Starken.

Making the event more exciting, each team invited gorgeous ladies to become their muses.

Leaving remarkable debuts, UAP Silangan defeated UAP South Triangle, 59-54, while UAP Capitol dominated UAP Tandang Sora, 81-60.
